Bedford
Bereavement Care are responsible for the management and operation of Norse
Road Crematorium,
Norse Road Cemetery and Foster Hill Road Cemetery.
Bedford Bereavement Care are a wholly owned Bedford Borough Council company. The Company was established in 1995 by the Council. All bereavement services in the Borough are provided by the Company. The offices of the Company are at Norse Road Cemetery. The Company is committed to providing a high quality, caring service for the bereaved with many options for memorialisation and burial/cremation.
Bedford Bereavement Care are full members of The Charter for the Bereaved. The Charter identifies 33 rights.

Charter:

a commitment to improving the service by confronting, rather than disguising,
the death experience and by reducing ignorance; |

intended to define the rights of every individual who experiences bereavement;

set standards of service related to burial, cremation and funerals generally.
It is a written statement of what can be expected and this can act as
a measure for juding the service received;

recognises
that bereavement services are critical to the health of the nation.
That the benefits of a meaningful funeral are immeasurable, influencing
both the physical and mental wellbeing of us all;

will
give the bereaved greater influence over the arrangement of funerals,
thereby controlling costs and offering more satisfaction.
